“I don't think it makes sense to spend the money for Cleanshot when other apps do most of what it does for a lot less or free.”Evidence: r/macapps · Shottr vs CleanShot X in 2026. Which one are you actually sticking with?
Product context
Official or maker-supplied product information. It is kept separate from buyer evidence and independent purchase verification.
Switchback works inside the real Finder rather than replacing it, so the Desktop, Dock icon and Open and Save dialogs all stay Apple's. It adds Windows Explorer-style features to Finder itself: cut and paste for files with Command-X, a typeable address bar with Tab completion, an expandable sidebar folder tree, a pausable copy queue with a speed graph, and a Task Manager. Version 1.0.1 adds optional Windows-style window snapping and layout shortcuts.
Pricing: paid, one-time $24.99, with a 14-day free trial and no card needed. Requires macOS 13 Ventura through macOS 27, Apple silicon and Intel. Version 1.0.1 (October 2026). By Gavin Shipman, indie developer, Melbourne.
Note: unless the Mac already allows it, setup includes a one-time Recovery step that lowers startup security to Permissive; https://getswitchback.io/setup/ explains why and how to undo it.
