Privacy Policy

TheMacApps runs AI Research on public Mac app information. This page explains the small amount of personal data we handle to run the site, and how to remove it.

What we collect

  • Account details. If you sign in, we store your email address, and your name and profile picture if you use Google sign-in.
  • Your Research. URLs you submit, the apps and factors you choose, saved Research, and your private notes and priorities.
  • Email requests. If you ask us to email you when a Research is ready, or subscribe to an email, we store that email address for that purpose.
  • Corrections and submissions. Information you send us to correct a fact or add an app, including the sources you provide.
  • Payments. If you buy anything, the payment provider processes your card. We receive the order status, amount and email address, never your full card number.
  • Usage data. Pages visited, referrer, device and approximate location from privacy-friendly analytics, plus standard server logs used for security and rate limiting.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell personal data.
  • We don't let sponsors or advertisers access your Research, notes or account details.
  • Private notes and priorities stay private unless you publish a Research.

How AI Research uses your input

When you run AI Research, the URLs you submit and the public pages we collect are sent to AI model providers (through OpenRouter) to extract and compare facts. We send the public content and your research question, not your account details.

Service providers

We rely on these providers to run the site:

  • Cloudflare: hosting, database and file storage
  • Amazon Web Services (SES): sending email
  • Google: optional sign-in
  • Stripe and Lemon Squeezy: payments
  • OpenRouter and the model providers it routes to: AI Research
  • DataFast: website analytics

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to protect forms from abuse. Analytics uses a first-party identifier to count unique visits. We don't use advertising cookies.

Retention and deletion

We keep account data while your account is active. Published Research stays public until you unpublish or delete it. Email us at support@themacapps.com to export or delete your data; we reply within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, email signed-in users.
