A refined file manager for macOS

Bloom is a Finder alternative built specifically for Mac. It keeps familiar file-management ideas while adding faster search, flexible layouts, and tools for organizing files without leaving the browser. The app can manage local folders alongside iCloud Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive, and it works with Finder tags.

Bloom lets you create named workspaces with customized layouts, including multi-panel arrangements. Its global search panel combines path navigation with keyword search, while in-place search starts with Command-F inside the current folder and updates as the file system changes. Search can use regular expressions or plain text, and predefined search locations can be adjusted.

  • Build reusable workspaces with customized layouts.
  • Search within the current folder or across configured locations.
  • Create files and folders, including Markdown, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote documents.
  • Organize items by kind, creation date, modification date, and other properties.
  • Queue file operations, monitor their progress, and revert recorded operations.

Customization without a cloud account

Shortcuts are configurable across almost all operations, and themes can follow a color chosen by the user. Bloom also supports opening the current folder in a preferred terminal. The developer describes Bloom as an offline application that does not collect personal data.
